Dawn Heath / Playlist Compiler

Dawn lives at the bottom of Di and Martin’s garden in Heckington and has had a Country Music playlist on the station for a number of years now. Whilst she’s not exactly new to the station, during the revamp of the playlists, we asked her if she would be interested in updating her list with some new tracks and like the trouper she is, she stepped up to the plate. For the first time, Dawn has provided us with a little history about her love of country music, so we’ll let her explain…..

I have to say that my music interest has been very varied.  I particularly liked listening to Jim Reeves as a teenager.  Also singers like Kenny Rogers, Alan Jackson, and George Strait. I hadn’t really gone for any particular genre, until I became involved with RadioHLR.  I opened my mouth and said to Andy Mellett-Brown,  you don’t have a country music slot!  He said that if I found 150 songs he would create a playlist/programme for me.   That’s where my country list started. Mark Rodriguez recently asked me if I would update this and there’s now a library of over 400 songs. I have included a lot of the more modern country singers like Keith Urban and Josh Turner, which are not ‘old’ country like Johnny Cash, but I like them.  So there’s a real mix over the years.
