Gail Haffenden shows

We’re delighted to welcome Gail into the RadioHLR fold. She has been a regular listener to many of the shows, along with her husband, Haffers. We asked Gail to write a little bit about herself and we couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Take it away Gail!

About Me

It’s a bit of a clichè but music has always been a huge part of my life. Being brought up by 2 music loving parents and 4 sisters and a brother, the house was always full of music…especially on a Sunday when we played our records. From the age of 2 years old I used to get my toy guitar and strum away and sing to the Beatles. (I don’t do that anymore!!) I have always loved to sing and have been known to sing in duo’s and local bands. I started my own choir 11 years ago and we have now evolved into an all female Shanty Group. We regularly sing in the local Fisherman’s Museum and in one of the old town pubs in my home town of Hastings, with a male shanty group. It is fun and really has a sense of feeling good especially when the whole pub sings along with you. There are no shanties in this list though.

These are songs that make you happy and literally make you feel good. They make you want to either get up and dance around your kitchen or any other room you are in at the time or, sit down for a minute or 2 and soak up the moment. They make you want to sing out loud and grab a hairbrush to sing into. These songs can also make you reflect and think about all the good things in your life. I could have gone on much longer with this list, it could so easily have been more than 400 tracks and of course, my idea of a feel good song, may not be yours but hopefully there will be some common ground. I hope you enjoy my play list and if even one song makes you feel good, my job is done.
