What is HLR?

HLR is an internet radio station, set up in March 2020 and maintained by Andy and Patricia Mellett Brown. HLR is affiliated to and supported by Heckington Living, a small voluntary organisation that publishes Heckington’s village magazine and is sponsored by Ruby’s Plaice. The station was originally established in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the idea being to mitigate some of the effects of lockdown by keeping people connected with each other, their families and friends.

Since its launch HLR has expanded, so that today we have 16+ live presenters and live programmes every day. But we offer much more. The station broadcasts a wide range of voice and music programmes 24 hours a day, every day. As well as music, there are dramas, documentaries, church services and a ‘Live Lounge’ where some of our listeners choose to come together during live shows, to chat with the presenters and each other. HLR and its ‘Live Loungers’ have made connections well beyond Heckington, extending the hand of friendship and goodwill across the country and, indeed, around the world.

Our listeners are at the heart of everything we do at HLR

HLR exemplifies the community spirit that we have in Heckington and says everything about the way that we care for each other as a community. The station is run entirely by volunteers, on a not-for-profit basis. We are very definitely not a commercial radio station and you will not hear any adverts. Neither are we a pirate radio station. We are fully licensed to broadcast and play music. We exist, solely to serve you, our community of listeners, wherever you are.

You are very welcome to Heckington Living Community Radio.
