The New RadioHLR Live Lounge is operational!
Written by Mark Rodriguez on 20 March 2025
After a few weeks of relative mayhem in the Live Lounge, we’ve done what we needed to do and updated a few things on the website. The new Live Lounge has been tested and appears to be working very well. As it’s a new, updated version, there are a couple of small changes that are worth mentioning, so please read on.
Clear your browser cache
One thing you may need to do is to clear the cache on your browser. If you don’t do this, your device may try to open a previous version of the Live Lounge and it won’t work.
There are so many different ways to do this, too many to list here, but the best thing to do is do a search for ‘How to clear the cache on a xxx’ (where xxx is the name and, if required, operating system on your device). Once the cache is cleared, the live lounge should open correctly.
Using the Live Lounge on a Mobile Phone
If you’re using a mobile to listen to RadioHLR, it’s worth talking you through the buttons that are there.
The PURPLE circle shows the cog wheel, which is where you change your user name and (if you want) the colour of your text. When you frst go into the Live Lounge, you will be called UserXXX (where XXX are numbers) so you will need to change your name
The BLUE circle shows you the list of current users in the Live Lounge
The RED circle shows something new that you don’t actually need. It’s a list of channels, but as we only use the one channel for this chat, you don’t need to use this button
The GREEN circle takes you back to the current chat. You will see something called ‘global’. That is the name of the current channel. You need to click on this to go back into the chat. I am speaking with the developers about this as I would like to get rid of this and go back directly into the chat, but there is nothing evident in the information about this plugin, so I’ve had to ask for advice. I’ll keep you posted on this, but if I can get rid of it, I will update this page. For now though, just click on the word ‘global’ and it will take you there.
Using the Live Lounge on a PC/Mac/tablet/iPad
The interface for PC or Mac is very similar to the previous iteration of this software. The cog at the bottom left of the screen allows you to customise your name as before.
The main difference is in the GREEN box, which shows the Channels list and the word ‘global’. Global is the name of the chatroom and as I’ve already mentioned I’m trying to get this removed. For now though, it means nothing so you can ignore it.
UPDATE: This has now been removed!!!
Troubleshooting
We are confident that the live lounge will work well, but with all things, there may be some teething troubles. If you do have an issue, please let us know at admin@radiohlr.com, noting the issue in as much detail as possible and we will do our best to resolve this for you. Also, if there are lots of similar issues, we need to know in order to go back to the developer to amend the app.
Thanks for reading this, enjoy using the Live Lounge and please continue to enjoy listening to RadioHLR.
