At Home with Andy & Trish – The Final Show

Written by on 22 October 2023

Having founded Heckington Living Community Radio (‘HLR’) and run the station for very nearly four years, Trish and I will be bringing ‘At Home with Andy & Trish’ to a close after tonight’s show and handing over the HLR reins to Martin and Di Davies.

We set up HLR, as a voluntary, not-for-profit station to help keep people connected with each other, their families, and friends during periods of lockdown. We are enormously proud of the difference we all made together. Since the pandemic abated, we’ve worked hard to continue making the station available to the presenters and, together with them, built the best community radio station we could. It’s been a truly wonderful experience.

However, behind the scenes, running HLR is a big commitment, which takes much time and a great deal of effort. It has rather dominated our lives and, after four years, it’s time to make some space, relax together and enjoy our other activities (yes, we do – or did – have some)!

With a great team of presenters and a super website, we’re delighted to be able to hand the station on with everything in place for Martin, Di and the team to take HLR to new heights. We’re sure you will want to give them your full support.

We won’t be disappearing altogether. I will be continuing, with JoJo, to joint-present our monthly ‘Radio Reg’ show. Trish and I may also pop up, from time-to-time, as occasional/guest presenters. We’ve also developed a new independent podcast which we will be launching next week on Mixcloud. So, watch out for ‘Tea with the Mellett Browns’ which we’ll announce on Facebook shortly!

Thank you to the HLR Team, both past and present, to everyone at Heckington Living for their support, to Raj and Ruby at Ruby’s Plaice for their amazing sponsorship, and of course to you, our listeners. We wish HLR and all of you, a very happy and successful future.

Join us tonight, at 7pm om www.radiohlr.com for our farewell ‘At Home with Andy & Trish’.
